We often have emails requesting information on Relatives and friends in Clacton,
as well as on the Butlins Holiday camps (not just Clacton)
so I have decided to separate the letters columns into different sections.
Requests for information about Clacton
We have had so many in the past that I have decided to put these on a separate page

| Bill Broun WABroun99@aol.com | This message obviously dates me somewhat! I was at school at Far Forest,Worcestershire when the Second World began, shortly after the war started we had a large number of children "evacuees" from Clacton evacuated to the Rock and District area of Worcestershire, which is about seven miles from the town of Kidderminster, I made friends with a John Watson and a Daphne Taylor, I often wonder if they can remember me, I certainly remembered Daphne, so much that I named my first daughter after Daphne!, I know this is one heck of a long shot! but if any other members of that group of kids from Clacton remember I would like to know how they have fared in life, I moved to the US over fifty years ago! | 24 January 2007 | UK |

| Pauline LaRoca nee Twinn plarocca@aol.com | I lived in Clacton all my life before moving out to U.S.A in 1960. I loved going to butlin's holiday camp for the day and enjoyed all the entertainment they had to offer. it was sad when the camp closed down. On a visit back it seemed strange to see houses built on the site which used to be butlin's. I often think of friends who i have lost contact with during the years. Does anyone know beryl Gardner (married name unknown) she used to live in watson Rd. Clacton is a lovely place and it is so enjoyable to walk the miles of sea-front. I would love to hear from anyone who may remember me. I love this web site great to stay in touch | 05 January 2005 | USA |

| Linda Linda.blythe@btinternet.com | I visited Clacton today in the first time in six years, and I was taken aback by
the dirty colour of the sea instead of the sea being a lovely blue colour it was
a mucky brown! Is the sewer outlet very close to the beach if so this must be a health factor? I was very disappointed in seeing this. Editors Note: for the past two years NO Sewage has been passed into the Sea, it goes into a new sewer under the promanade and on to the Sewage Works East of the Town, in Holland-on-Sea. The brown water is caused by the sand which swirls around in the water becuase it is so shallow. Most of the coast line of Britian is like this , very few areas have "blue" sea. | 12 September 2004 | |
| Lin Rouse lin.rouse@radicauk.com | please could you supply me with a list of mobile hairdresser in the Little Claction area. | 18 May 2004 | UK | sarah.may@12yard.com | I work for a television company called 12 Yard and I am very interested in talking to families who only ever holiday in the UK and have NEVER been abroad. I have really enjoyed reading through everyone's emails on this site as it is full if peoples fondest memories of holidays spent in the UK and I would love to hear more. I am particularly keen to hear from people who feel strongly that: Everything they need and want from a holiday is right here in Great Britain Who enjoy the home comforts only a holiday in Britain can provide Who are put off going abroad because of language barriers foreign foods and different cultures If this sounds anything like you, your family or anyone else you know I would love to hear from you asap. | philip.cowan1@virgin.net (phil cowan) | Has anyone got any old photo's of Jaywick in the mid sixties. My family went to Jaywick for their holidays and I have very fond memories of it. We used to stay near Golf Green. I remember the Texas Amusements and the Morrocco club...and what was the name of the amusements at the other end on the front? The one with the curved front .... always smelt of disifectant! | Thu, 7 Aug 2003 | UK |

| alzone293777360@aol.com (Alan Reynolds) | Hi, Would just like to take the opportunity, to express my dissappointment, at the demise of the "Clacton Classic Vehicle Show". Even though an alternative "show" is planned for Walton. The clacton show, in my opinion, was perfect in every sense, the atmosphere, the venue, everything about it was wonderful. It is a real shame, that someone, has decided to change, (again, in my opinion) a great day. I have attended the clacton show, for the past 5 years, however, I am seriously considering, not attending, the alternative show, on principle, even though, I realise this will not change anything! Many thanks. for taking the time, to read this e-mail. | Mon, 17 Mar 2003 | UK |
| jedney@essex.ac.uk (james) | i love clacton so much. i like to buy cheese in clacton. | 7 Feb 2003 | UK |
