Winter Sea and Sand

At Clacton-on-Sea you will find at least seven miles of clean sandy beaches,
with a promenade, which stretches from Frinton in the north to Jaywick in the south.

Clacton-on-Sea faces South on the East coast of Britain which gives us Sunny Weather with Strong Winds during the Winter to blow away the clouds

The beaches have recently been protected from the dumping of local sewage by Law now, which leaves miles of sandy beaches for walks. We also now have our own Seaside Award by the Keep Britain Tidy Movement for the clean water and facilities at Clacton-on-Sea.
Several people use this also for prospecting in the Sand for coins, Jewelry and other obj-da dropped during the tourist season.
Along the Promenade are formal gardens, Crazy Golf and many places to walk free of traffic. There are also cycle paths for the more energetic.

We also have a Victorian Pier , which is free to enter. On the pier, you can find amusements such dodgem's and all the fun of the fair as well as place to fish, watch the free fireworks events in the Evening, eat at the restaurant and many people choose to walk along to the fishing area for the invigorating sea breeze at the end..

or see the Lifeboat station at Clacton Lifeboat Amusement Arcades are also on the famous Pier Avenue which you can shelter from the rain and play an English game of Bingo while the Kids play the slot machines

Shopping
ends to be cheaper in this area of essex and there are several bargain stores such the QD department store and Charity shops in the Center of town, around the Station Road Area.

There are two big shopping Areas Glade Park where Safeways, Homebase,, Iceland, Halfords, Carpet Right have their stores and Clacton Village, Shopping CityStephensons Road CO15 4XA which concentrates on stylish, trademarked goods at high prices.

There is also an out of town Safeways A massive Shopping Centre at Little Clacton with plenty of parking.

. Car Boot Sales and Markets
All through the year the Warwick Castle site, on Old road provides Markets on Saturday and Tuesday. There you can find fresh fruit, local potatoes, Books, Magazines, Dresses, Coats, Handbags, shoes etc, all at discount prices that even the local shops cannot match.

On Thursday, Friday and Sunday there are Car boot Sales, the biggest of which is on the Sunday. This is where a mixture of residents clear-out thier garages, basements and lofts to sell off their items to clear the space. From six year children sell Pokemon Cards or old toys to Adults selling everything from Computers to Antiques.
This is where the deals are struck for later on in life!
Some Dealers also attend and the prices are very cheap, starting from 10p upwards for a wine glass, 50p for a cassette radio, one pound sponge cakes etc.

Accommodation

Hotels and rented accommodation are cheap. Some of which stay Open during the Winter Season, giving cheaper prices than in the Summer (see this Page for Details).
This is in addition to the specialist homes and Hotels which cater for the handicapped and elderly in the town The town is very well adapted to these sorts of visitors.


House Hunting
Houses in the area are also cheap; so many people come to Clacton outside the Season to search for an Alternative place to live. There are many Estate Agents in Station Road and dotted about the town who would be happy to advise on moving permanently or buying a holiday home.
